Guava is a hardy tropical fruit tree that adapts well to diverse soils and climates. The tree is small to medium-sized (3–6 m) with smooth bark and spreading branches. Its fruits are round or oval, green to yellow on ripening, with white or pink juicy pulp rich in vitamin C and fiber. In India, guavas are harvested in two main seasons: August–October and January–March. Guava is consumed fresh, in juices, jams, and candies, and is valued for its nutritional and medicinal benefits.
