Alphonso Mango
Alphonso Mango
The Alphonso mango, popularly called the “King of Mangoes,” is one of the most prized varieties of India, especially from the Ratnagiri and Devgad regions of Maharashtra. It is renowned for its rich golden-yellow color, smooth, fiberless pulp, and extraordinary sweetness with a hint of saffron-like flavor. Alphonso mangoes are medium-sized, oval, and are usually harvested between April and June. They have a long shelf life compared to other mangoes, making them highly suitable for export. Alphonso trees generally grow 12–15 feet in height and require warm, coastal climates for the best quality fruits.
