Description

Indonesian species Mangifera casturi, not a true Mangifera indica. Darker, smaller fruit, rich perfume aroma, often grown as exotic collector variety.

Native to the island of Borneo, the Kasturi is a rare and wild mango relative that looks very different from standard commercial types. It is quite small, roughly the size of a plum, with thick skin that turns a dark eggplant purple, almost black, when fully ripe.

The true magic of the Kasturi lies inside. Breaking the dark skin reveals vibrant, dark orange flesh with an incredibly intense aroma that some describe as a mix between lychee and wild mango. The flavor is powerfully sweet and complex. While fibrous, the unique taste makes it a prized fruit for enthusiasts looking for something truly exotic.
